Who we are
About Donna — The Heart Behind Bunny Haven Rescue
Bunny Haven Rescue began in the most unexpected way — with two guinea pigs, a trip to the pet shop, and one very spontaneous rabbit adoption. From there, the calls for help started… and Donna never stopped saying “yes.”
Today she cares for around 25 rescue rabbits at any one time, offering safety, love, and a second chance to bunnies who are often turned away from larger rescues. At her busiest, she has taken in over 70. Older buns, vulnerable buns, complicated cases — they’re all welcomed.
The rescue is run from Donna’s home, shared with her son (her “knight in shining tinfoil”), her grandchildren who adore the chaos, and an eclectic mix of bunnies, cats, chickens, and more. Rehoming fees and donations help keep the rescue going, but much of the cost is personally funded — a true labour of love.
While constructive advice is always welcome, negativity isn’t entertained. Donna’s focus is simply on giving every rabbit the chance it deserves.
She is supported by a small circle of trusted friends, including Cate from Suffolk Bunny Sanctuary and Carla at Norfolk Piggies, who help with collections, care, and community.
Bunny Haven Rescue exists because Donna believes no rabbit should be forgotten — and she’s built a sanctuary where every bun matters.
About Cate — the founder behind Suffolk Bunny Sanctuary.
My rescue journey began with one rabbit who needed help… then another… and soon people were reaching out with buns who had nowhere else to go. What started as a simple act of kindness quickly became a calling, and the sanctuary grew from there.
Along the way, Donna from Bunny Haven Rescue has been — and continues to be — an incredible support. Her experience, guidance and shared passion for rabbit welfare are a huge part of why our sanctuaries now work closely together to give even more rabbits the safe future they deserve.
Here at Suffolk Bunny Sanctuary, every rabbit is treated as an individual. We offer:
Rescue & safe intake for unwanted or at-risk rabbits
Gentle rehabilitation to help nervous buns trust again
Ethical rehoming, matching each rabbit with the right home
Ongoing support for adopters
Long-term sanctuary for those who need it
Suffolk Bunny Sanctuary exists because rabbits deserve better — patience, proper care, and a place where their needs always come first.
Whether you’re here to adopt, learn, or follow our sanctuary life, you’re so welcome.
Together, we’re giving every bun a chance at a kinder story.
